Obituary of Ruth Davis

HIAWATHA, IA- Ruth C. Davis, 98, of Hiawatha, IA, died Thursday, January 15, 2015. Ruth was born on June 17, 1916, in Mt. Carroll, the daughter of George and Caroline (Wurster) Neis. She was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sterling. Ruth married George E. Davis, Jr. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2000. Survivors include two sons, Bill (Kathryn Franzenburg) Davis, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Neal Davis, of Colorado Springs, CO; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sterling, with Pastor Mark Oehlert officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 AM- 10:30 AM. Arrangements were made by Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. A memorial has been established.
