Obituary of Sarah E Fry

Mrs. Sarah E. “Betty” Fry, 83, formerly of Sterling, died Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Journey Care in Woodstock, IL. Sarah E. Fry was born March 31, 1932 in Roodhouse, the daughter of Ralph and Florence Newton. She married Wayne L. Fry on August 24, 1950 in Hillview, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2012. Sarah owned and operated the Mode O’Day in Sterling for many years before her retirement. She was a member of Rock Falls EC church where she taught Sunday school for 35 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Wayne (Carolyn) Fry of Melbourne, FL; one daughter, Nancy (Kent) Johnson of Carpentersville; one sister, Freda Hallock; two grand-daughters, April Fitzgerald and Autumn (Nick) Walters both of Carpentersville, and one grand-daughter Susan (Dan) Garneau of Sidney, NE; and three great-grandchildren, Brooke and Reid Walters, and Sarah Garneau. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tom Gillis and Pat Gillis; and one sister, Loretta Wyatt. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Ken Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.
