STERLING- Roger M. Polzin, 77, of Sterling, passed away, Friday September 4, 2015. Roger was born April 29, 1938 in Milwaukee, the son of Elroy and Jeannette (Zobb) Polzin. He married Mary (Anne) Harden July 10, 1970 in Sterling. Roger graduated from Sterling High School in 1956, he then joined the Air Force and was stationed in England. Roger worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire for 36 years, until his retirement. After retiring he was able to enjoy his true passion of travel which led to 14 years of driving charter buses. He participated in many activities including being a certified PADI Certified Master Scuba Instructor, Lifetime member of the Sterling/Rock Falls Jaycee’s, Amateur Radio, Boy Scouts, Civil War Reenactment’s, Buick Club of America, local model airplane club, and longtime member of the Whiteside County Republican Central Committee. Survivors include his wife Anne; two sons Geoffrey (Kathy) Polzin of Donahue IA, and Steven Polzin of New Port Richey FL; one sister Margie (Raymond) Rondeau of Chicopee MA,; four grandchildren Jeremy (Ashley) Polzin, Brandon Polzin, Shane Polzin, and Grant Polzin; two great-grandchildren Noah and Noelle Polzin; two nephews Jim and Jerry Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Gary Polzin, and one brother Dennis Polzin. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling, with the Reverend Henrietta Milner, of Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 5:30PM-8PM at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, in Sterling.
