Lois Juanita Hamilton, 97, formerly of Sterling, IL, died, Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Ginter Hall South. Lois was born May 9, 1919 in Sterling, the daughter of James and Amanda (Tyler) Musgrave. She married Kenneth Hamilton on June 20, 1939 at First Baptist Church, Sterling. They were married for fifty-nine years. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1998. Lois graduated from Sterling Township High School and was employed at Central National Bank, Northwestern Steel and Wire Company, Lawrence Brothers and Sterling High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church and later, Faith Baptist Church, both in Sterling. She served many years as a Sunday school teacher and organist and pianist. She also volunteered at Community General Hospital for more than twenty years, also serving on the Executive Board of the Auxiliary for several years. After living in Sterling all her life, in 2005 Lois moved to a retirement home in Dalton, Georgia to be near her daughter, Karen. There she continued her volunteer work at Hamilton Medical Center, served on committees at the retirement center and was active at First Baptist Church. She moved to Richmond, VA in August, 2015 to be near Karen and closer to family. Survivors include one daughter, Karen (Dr. Dennis) Wisdom of North Chesterfield, VA; one son, Dr. Thomas K. (Kathryn) Hamilton of St. Petersburg, FL; five grandchildren, Dr. Joel (Kathy-Lee) Wisdom of Columbia, MD, Tim (Amy) Wisdom of Richmond, VA, Lori (Phil) Sowers of Fairfax, VA, Amy (Chris) Pool of Haymarket, VA and Phil (Kelly) Hamilton of New Bern, NC; twelve great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 27, 2016 at Faith Baptist Church, Sterling with the Reverend Bryan Bice, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 10-11AM Monday, prior to services at the church. A memorial has been established.
