Obituary of Eva Gallegos

STERLING-Eva Gallegos, 71 of Sterling, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 surrounded by her family. Eva was born March 6, 1945, the daughter of Adan and Ventura (Aguilar) Puentes. Born and raised in San Benito, TX, Eva graduated from San Benito High School and made a home for herself in Sterling, IL for 52 years. She raised six children and was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and music. She valued time with her family & friends and often celebrated her birthday with her twin brother. Eva will be remembered as a selfless and beautiful women on the inside and out. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family and others. So dearly loved, she will be forever cherished and missed. She leaves behind her 2 daughters, Krista (George) Mobarak of Sterling and Melissa (Ken) Harmon of Houston, TX; 4 sons, Ray (fiancé Kara Spencer) Gallegos Jr. of Rockford, Noe Gallegos of Rockford, Leroy Gallegos of Sterling and Baldemar (Nicole Kral) Gallegos of Rockford; 1 sister, Vina Suarez of Independence, LA; 12 grandchildren, Linda, Mason, Hannah, Caroline, Rowan, Chelsey, Jamison, Alec, Ashley, Ciarra, Adriana and Amaya. Plus, many nieces and nephews. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Mario Puentes, Robert Puentes, Narciso Puentes and Adam Puentes; 2 sisters, Soila Olalde and Helen Puentes. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling. Visitation is from 9:30-11:30 on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 prior to funeral. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. A memorial has been established.
