Obituary of Lois A. Matthews

LOIS A. MATTHEWS STERLING-Lois A. Matthews, 89, of Sterling, died, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at CGH Medical Center. Lois was born May 6, 1927 in Livingston, TN, the daughter of William M. and Rossa Lee (Vailes) Wallace. She married Lee Weston Matthews on February 19, 1944 in Anderson, IN. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1998. She was a member of Sixteenth Avenue Church of Christ, Sterling. Survivors include two daughters, Arlene Benters of Sterling and Brenda (Scott) Angleton of Dixon; son-in-law, Butch Gaulrapp; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; step-mother, Lillie Taylor; daughter, Patricia Gaulrapp; four sisters; one brother and son-in-law, Ed Benters. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, December 9, 2016 at Sixteenth Avenue Church of Christ, Sterling, with Merle Heckman, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 AM, prior to services at the church. A memorial has been established. Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling.
