Obituary of Robert G. Nelson

Robert Gene Nelson August 23rd,1936 to December 6th,2016 Rock Falls – Robert G. Nelson, 80, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, December 6th,2016, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Robert married Irene on January 18th, 1959. He was known as “Pops” by many. He always told you how it was. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire and retired from there in 1995. Robert was born August 23rd,1936, in Morrison, the son of Seth & Florence (Lind) Nelson. Survivors include 3 sons Edward Nelson of Rock Falls, Eric (Anke) Nelson of Germany, Ernie Nelson of Rock Falls, and 1 daughter, Debbie Eubanks, of Rock Falls. 3 sisters Betty (Pat) Hanna of Tampico, Signe (Dave) Gerdes of Tampico. Grandchildren, Ted (April) Robbins of Rock Falls, Adam (Shelly) Robbins of Rock Falls, Jim Robbins of Rock Falls, Seth (Colleen) Nelson of Rock Falls, Cassandra Nelson of Rockford, Eddie (Alex) Nelson of Rock Falls, Brooke, Eric, and Autumn Nelson of Rock Falls. Great Grandchildren, Teddy Jr and Alexis of Rock Falls, Tyler and Alex of Rock Falls, Quincy and Jimmy Jr of Tampico, Lilliona and Oliver of Rock Falls and Brynlee and Parsley of Rock Falls. Proceeded in death by his wife Irene (Grandma) Nelson. The Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, December 12th,2016 at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. Services will immediately follow at Oak Knoll Cemetery. Dinner will be at Abiding Word Church, 806 E. Lynn, Blvd Sterling, Il 61081 In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
