Obituary of Laverne Jim Latta

LAVERNE “JIM” LATTA ROCK FALLS- Laverne Latta, known to all of us as Jim, 75, was called to his eternal resting place on March 22, 2017, at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, AL. Jim was born July 19, 1941, the son of Harry and Mary (Clayton) Latta. He was married for more than 35 years to Jo Anne (Edeus). He was an owner and operator of E&L Excavating for more than 40 years. He loved cars, boats, motorcycles and chocolate. He especially enjoyed having coffee (and treats) with friends. Survivors include his loving companion, travel and card-playing partner Sharon Cox of Rock Falls; one daughter, Jody (Greg) Taylor of Aurora; one son Jim (Christi) Latta of Osh Kosh, WI; one sister Harriet "Rita" Latta; two grandsons, Sumner Latta and Zachary Taylor; and two granddaughters, Madilyn and Corynn Latta. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, with Rev. Daniel Behmlander, pastor, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers donation will be made to Good Shephard Lutheran Church, in his name.
