PROPHETSTOWN- Charles William Eads, 83, of Prophetstown, died Friday, August 15, 2014. Charles was born on January 31, 1931 in Lyndon to Leroy F. and Nellie (McDearmon) Eads. He lived in Lyndon growing up, then moved to Erie and lived there from 1966-1980. In 1980, he moved to Prophetstown and lived there for 34 years. He worked at Penberthy's until his retirement. He married Verna Margaret Oltmanns on November 26, 1959 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sterling. As a member of St. John's Lutheran church, he taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Loyal Lutherans. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for 70+ years, Erie Rotary Club, and was a foster parent for many years. Survivors include his wife, Verna; one daughter, Deborah (Norbert) Pempe, of Morris; one son, Charles Daniel ("Dan") Eads, of Prophetstown; five grandchildren, Norbert A., Remington (Jean), Sterling (Jessie Anders), Arianna Pempe, and Czarina (Don) Ruffatto ; and four great grandchildren, Xander, Kent, Logan, and Kaedyn Pempe. He was preceded in death by three brothers Clarence "Bud", Leroy, and Keith Eads; and two sisters Vi Knox, and Eleanor Boonstra. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sterling. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the service. Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling is handling arrangements. A memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent to schillingfuneralhome.com.
