FAYE HADLEY POLO -Faye Marie Hadley, 92, of Polo, went home to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Rock River Hospice and Home of Sterling. Faye was born October 14, 1926 in Eldena, the daughter of Jess and Alice (Fisher) Gowan. She married George M. Hadley on June 13, 1943 in Rock Falls. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2011. Faye and her husband farmed all their years, the last 52 years near Hazelhurst. Faye loved gospel music and played piano for church services and nursing homes, beginning at age 13 and continued until her death. Between the years of 1943 and 1952, Faye played the piano on the radio KROS- Clinton, IA through her church Twin City Gospel, Rock Falls. Christ Jesus became her Savior at 23 years of age, and she served him for 69 years until her death. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Sterling for 67 years. Faye was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Survivors include three sons, Dennis (Cathy) Hadley of Milledgeville, Douglas (Debbie) Hadley of Dothan, AL, and Martin (Kaci) Hadley of Sterling; six daughters, Linda (Mark) Clark of South Wayne, WI, Alice (Charles) Grimes of Polo, Reverend Joy (Lyle) Maberry of Ankney, IA, Peggy (Mick) Powell of Oro Valley, AZ, Polly (John) Ward of Dixon, and Jane (Jeff) Lee of Sylvania, OH; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws Fernita Fisher of Naperville, Edith Gowan of Rock Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; one sister, Ruth Boyer; six brothers, Leroy Gowan, Raymond Gowan, Dewey Gowan, Lloyd Gowan, Paul Gowan and Eugene Gowan in infancy; and one grandson, Patrick Ward. Funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at First Church of the Nazarene of Sterling with Reverend Jeremy McLaughlin, Reverend Joy Maberry, and Reverend Todd Maberry, officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday May 17, 2019 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling and from 9-10 AM prior to services at the church. Burial will take place at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
