Salvador A. Velazquez, 89, of Sterling, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 15, 2022 in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. Salvador was born in Pachuca on August 6, 1933. He married Judy E. Lansford on October 7, 1972. He was employed by Northwestern Steel & Wire Co. from 1972-1998, many of those last years in the 14" mill.
Salvador loved traveling and dancing to salsa music. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, skydiving, and staying fit and socializing with his many friends at the YMCA. He truly believed in living life to the fullest.
Salvador is survived by his wife, Judy; two daughters, Monica (Stephen) Fisher and Angie Velazquez (Esequiel Trujillo); one son, Adrian Velazquez (Amy Gorman); one grandson, Kendrick Fisher; two sisters, Martha (Miguel) Reyes and Maria Bonnell; multiple nieces and nephews, and many much loved family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, his parents, and one sister.
Visitation will be held at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling on Sunday, September 25th from 1:00pm- 3:00pm. Mass will be held at St. Mary's church in Sterling on Monday, September 26th at 11:00am.
A memorial has been established.
