Virginia Buikema

Virginia L. Buikema, 87, of Sterling passed away Sunday July 10, 2022 at CGH Medical Center, in Sterling. Virginia was born March 22, 1935 near Thomson IL, the daughter of John and Stella (Vanderlawn) Kramer. She married Jay Buikema on November 9, 1957. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2020.

Virginia was a loving mother, she loved to cook and bake for family and friends.She enjoyed long walks with her dear friend Dorothy Rock.

Survivors include one son Mark Buikema of Sterling; one daughter Lori (Jason) Banks of East Moline; one brother Donald (Connie) Kramer of Savanna; one sister Gladys DeWeerdt of Rockford.

Virginia was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother Harold Kramer; and one sister Nancy Gelwicks.

Burial will be private in Lower York Cemetery in Thomson with pastor Jeff Coester officiating.

A memorial has been established to Bethel Reformed Church. Memorials may be sent to Schilling Funeral Home P.O. Box 592 and will be forwarded to the family.
