ADELINE "SUE" M. TOMPKINS KNOX STERLING- Adeline M. Knox, 84, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Sterling Pavilion. She worked at Frantz Manufacturing for many years, prior to retirement. Adeline was born September 4, 1927 in Sterling, the daughter of Frederick and Martha Johnson Eilers. She married Emory Tompkins on April 19, 1947 in Sterling, he preceded her in death in May 1979. She then married Aaron Knox, he also preceded her in death. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Rock Falls. Survivors include three daughters, Ellen (Steven) Wagner, Pennie (Neal) Shipley and Patricia Tompkins, all of Sterling; one son, Mark Tompkins of Defuniak Springs, FL; five grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Thelma Eilers. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian, Edna and Esther; and two brothers, Lawrence and Lester Eilers. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, with Reverend Daniel Behmlander, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Rock Falls, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45AM, Tuesday, prior to services. A memorial has been established to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Sterling.
