DIXON - Beatrice “Bea” John, 92, of Morningside in Sterling, formally of Dixon, went home to rest with her personal Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning August 24, 2021, at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, with her beloved children by her side. Bea was born March 12, 1929, in Hardin County Illinois, the daughter of Ewell and Della (Hobbs) Boyd. She married Henry John, on April 29, 1950, in Dixon. Bea and Henry were active farmers until their retirement. She had been a lifelong member of St. James Evangelical Congregational church in Dixon, and also active with Siesta Bay Church in Fort Myers Florida. Bea enjoyed gardening and was an amazing cook. She loved spending time in the kitchen and trying new recipes. Bea and Henry enjoyed traveling, camping and loved wintering at their Florida home in Fort Myers. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Henry John of Sterling; one daughter, Christine (Mike) Hubbard of Springdale, AR; one son, Darrell (Susan) John of Galveston, TX; five grandsons, John ( Abby) Hubbard, Sean Hubbard, Brad Hubbard, Daniel (Rosa) John, David (Patrick Alvarez) Stansberry; one great granddaughter, Kyleigh Hubbard; one sister, Nada (Marvin) Sullivan of Siloam Springs, AR; one brother, Russell (Dorothy) Boyd of Dixon; many nieces, nephews and cousins; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don and Shirley John of Dixon. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Randall Boyd. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at St. James Evangelical Congregation Church in Dixon, followed by a 2PM funeral service with Reverend Robert Dunbar, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon, immediately following the services. In lieu of flowers, you may honor Bea with a gift designated to Child Evangelism Fellowship or a charity of your choice. Due to Covid, masks are preferred during the service.
