CHARLES “CHUCK” NATHAN HAINES STERLING- Charles “Chuck” Nathan Haines, 86, of Sterling, died Thursday, January 4, 2018 at CGH Medical Center. He farmed in the area for many years. Chuck was born September 10, 1931 in Polo, the son of George Washington Haines and Ada Leon (Gatz) Haines. He served in the United States Army Mountaineers Division. He married Charlotte Meiners on February 16, 1957 at East Jordan Methodist Church. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family grandchildren, and many friends that enjoyed coffee. He was a Barbershopper for 25 years, and farmed the majority of his life in the Polo area. He also worked at Dana Corp, and Schilling Funeral Home. Chuck was a trustee of East Jordan Methodist Church, Cemetery board member, and member of the Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; three sons, Lyle (Lynn) Haines of Dixon, Dean (Terry Myer) Haines of Truckee, CA and Daren (Tracy) Haines of Crystal Lake; three sisters, Eleanor Moats of Polo, Evelyn Colehour of Mt Carroll, and Marlene Pease of Dekalb; one brother, Gene (Jeanie) Haines; two grandchildren, Nicholas Haines of Rockton and Laney Haines of Crystal Lake; six nephews, Gary Moats, Randy Pease, Steve Pease, Dave Pease, and Tim Pease, and Chuck Colehour; five nieces Christa Merdian, Cathy Colehour, Susie Johnson, Sheri Burns, and Susie Haines. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at East Jordan Church, Sterling, with Reverend Jim Miller, pastor, officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM at the Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling and also from 9:30 - 10:30 AM Tuesday, prior to services at the church. Burial will be at East Jordan Cemetery, Sterling. A memorial has been established to East Jordan Church, Sterling. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com.
