Rock Falls – Clinton V. Porter, 76, of Rock Falls, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family on Monday, January 14, 2019, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling. He was the owner/operator of Porter Brothers Asphalt and Sealing from 1970-2011. He was a crane operator at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., Sterling, for 33 years, retiring in 1993. He was co-owner of the Rock Falls Subway with his wife Norma since 1989. He was a member at First Open Bible Church, Rock Falls. Clinton enjoyed going to church, singing gospel music, laughing and telling stories, spending time with family and friends, working with his sons, grandsons, and brothers. He was born July 7, 1942, in Chilhowie, Virginia the son of Coy and Lula (Harris) Porter. He married Norma Broers September 9, 1961, at the Lincoln Avenue Church of God in Dixon. Survivors include the love of his life, his wife Norma Porter of Rock Falls, his son, Steve Porter of Rock Falls, his sisters, Myrtle Burgess of Janesville, Wisconsin, Sarah Orrender, and Mary Tucker of Sterling, his brothers, Robert Lee (Mary Lou) Porter, and William (Betty) Porter of Rock Falls, and Harold (Carol) Porter of Chilhowie, Virginia. Three grandchildren Matthew (Savana) Porter of Rock Falls, Josh (Shaela) Porter of Sterling, and Waylon Porter of Chicago, and four great-grandchildren Raelee Porter, Colette Porter, Analeigh Porter and Dawson Porter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Donald Lee Porter, his great-granddaughter Rylee Porter, his daughter in law Rachel Porter, two sisters Mildred Dowell, and Helen Duncan and three brothers Tom Porter, George Monroe Porter, and James Porter. Funeral service is at 11AM Saturday January 19, 2019 at First Open Bible Church in Rock Falls with Pastor Les Funderburg officiating, and Scott Porter Co-officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling. Visitation will be from 9AM-11AM prior to the services. A memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice and Home.
