CURTIS “Curt” Dean DAHLGREN TUCSON, AZ-Curtis "Curt" Dean Dahlgren, 70, formerly of Sterling, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 20th, 2019 in Tucson, Arizona following a brief illness. Curt was born March 28, 1949 in Sterling, the son of Dean and LaVonne (McNeil) Dahlgren. He graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University in 1972 and married Debbie Gillispie on May 22, 1976, in Sterling at Wesley United Methodist Church. Curt proudly worked at Sterling Federal Bank for 36 years, driving significant growth for the institution during his 21 years as the President and CEO. He retired in 2009 and continued to serve on the Board of Directors through 2015. He also had a life-long commitment to Sterling and Whiteside County, having been an active member and past president of the Sterling Noon Rotary Club, past board president of then United Way of Sterling-Rock Falls, a past member of the Sterling Township Board of Trustees, the Whiteside County Zoning Board of Appeals, the Sterling Chamber of Commerce board of directors and the board of the Illinois League of Savings Institutions. Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Waldron of Chicago, one son James Dahlgren of Orlando, FL and one sister, Judi (Kenneth) Dahlgren. He is preceded in death by his wife Debbie, parents and sister. Visitation will be Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 1-3pm at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, Sterling. A memorial has been established to the Rotary Foundation to continue eradicating polio and providing clean water to those who need it.
