Dale Hadfield

August 20, 1930 — February 5, 2012

ROCKFALLS- Dale Hadfield, 81, of Rock Falls, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday February 5, 2012, with his wife of 61 years by his side. Dale was born August 20, 1930 in Carterville, IL where he was adopted at age six by Bill and Syble Rushing. While attending Carterville High School he was Captain of the football and basketball teams, Senior Class President and played Tuba in the band. Dale married the love of his life, Wanda Faye Rudloff on October 14, 1950. He joined the USMC during the Korean War, serving from January 1952 to March 1954 in Communications Company Shore Party Battalion. While Dale was stationed at Camp Le Jeune, NC his first daughter, Rebecca Lynn was born September 14, 1953. Upon discharge from the USMC, Dale moved his family back to Illinois. He went to work at NWSW for 32 years, 30 as a welder in the East Plant Machine Shop, earning the distinction of Master Craftsman Welder. It was during this time that his second daughter Suzette was born, April 11, 1958. Dale enjoyed many out door activities; golf, gardening, playing softball on the church leagues and riding the tandem bike with his wife. Dale began his personal relationship with the Lord when he was 13 years old. As he grew, Dale enjoyed sharing his love for Christ in many church related capacities. He served as an usher, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and Chairman of the Board of Deacons at the First Baptist Church in Polo, IL. Dale was a Charter Member of Harvest Time Bible (with the organizational meeting to start the church being held in his home) Dale helped with the construction of the first sactuary by welding the main "I" beam supports. Dale is survived by his wife Wanda, two daughters; Becky (Don) Ackerman, Louisville, KY, Suzette (Dan) Schriner, Rock Falls, IL, five grandchildren, Brandon Dettman, Dixon, Il, Megan (Donny) Ritter, Roanoke, Va, Lacey Snyder, Rock Falls, IL, Jennifer and Nicholas Ackerman both of Louisville, KY, three great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Payton Ritter both of Roanoke, VA, and Nathaniel Dettman, Dixon, IL. Dale is preceded in death by his Parents and Brother. Visitation will be at the Schilling Funeral Home, 702 First Avenue, Sterling, IL Tuesday February 7, 2012 from 6-8 PM. Funeral Services will be 10:30 Wednesday February 8, with burial at Riverside Cemetery with Military honors. Pastor Dalmus Meeks, of Harvest Time Bible Church, officiating. Memorial has been established.
