POLO- Daniel P. Russell, 71, of Polo, died Sunday, December 21, 2014. Daniel was born on August 3, 1943, the son of Lawrence E. and Annetta (Berge) Russell. He married Dnita Berg on March 16, 1968 in Coleta. Daniel worked in the carpenter's shop at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. until his retirement in 1999. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Shannon G. Russell, of Sterling, Shea E. (Ted) Lamb, of Rock Falls, and Shiovahn M. (Eric) Koenen, of Polo; one sister, Beverly (Bobby) Irwin, of Sterling; four brothers, Roland (Sandra) Russell, of Rock Falls, Ed Russell, of Rockford, David Russell, of Sterling, and Dale (Angie) Russell, of Dixon; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Dorothy Whitley, Donna Caudillo, and LaVonne Miller; and one brother, Lawrence Russell, Jr. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11 AM at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, with Pastor Les Funderberg, officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM, Friday, December 26, 2014 also at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial has been established to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and The Wounded Warrior Project. Condolences may be sent to schillingfuneralhome.com.
