DAVID J. SQUIRES STERLING-David J. Squires, 62, of Sterling, died Monday, July 9, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Dave was born June 9, 1956 in Sterling, the son of James and Thelma (Maxwell) Squires. Dave married his high school sweetheart and best friend Peggy Harmon on October 4, 1975 in Rock Falls. For the last 41 years they built their life and beautiful home together. Dave was an avid gardener and loved to landscape. Attending auctions and woodworking were his passions. Dave enjoyed riding his Harley, Crappie fishing, and loved spending time with his family. Dave will be deeply missed by many. Survivors include his wife Peggy of Sterling; daughter, Jessica (Cameron Neal) Squires of Whittington, IL; one son, Jestin “Pokey” (Melinda) Squires of Ewing and six grandchildren, Jordan, Jeraka, Jayla, Jevan, Broxton and Haizely; and his K9 buddy Jax. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jack Squires. Funeral services will be held at 7 PM Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling with Dalmus Meeks, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6:30 PM Thursday, prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial has been established.
