STERLING- Edward “Grampa” A. W. Stralow, 97, of Sterling, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his home. Edward was born April 19, 1920 in Morrison, the son of Ernest and Mary (Rosenow) Stralow. He married Betty Thompson on June 7, 1941 in Morrison. She preceded him in death on June 13, 1961. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater from October 1943 to January 1946. Survivors include one daughter, Susan (Jim) Weeks of Sterling; one son, Randy Stralow of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Shelley (David Mitchell) Zinke, Traci (Darwin) Nettleton and Ryan (Emily) Weeks, all of Sterling, Marcus (Debbie) Weeks of Dunlap. and eleven great-grandchildren Austin (Becca) Zinke of Sterling, Trever Zinke of Denver; Jacqueline Weeks and Joseph Weeks, both of Dunlap; Blake Nettleton, Drew Nettleton, Cale Nettleton, Kaydence Weeks, Kasey Weeks, Baylee Weeks and Mattie Weeks all of Sterling. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law Vanessa Stralow; one sister, Martha Fowler and one brother, Ernest Stralow. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling, with Reverend Dr. Solomon Sudhaker, PhD of Rock Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown with full Military Rites. Visitation will be from 9-10:45 AM, prior to services at the funeral home.
