Edward Walters, 64, passed away on January 20th at his home in Rock Falls. Edward was born on February 8, 1954 in Sterling, IL to Gerald Walters and Leone (Malooley) Walters. He graduated from Rock Falls High School and attended Southern Illinois University. Edward was co-manager of Hiway 30 Supermarket in Rock Falls, and recently completed a 30 year career at Do-It-Best Hardware in Dixon, IL. His family paid this tribute to him: “Eddie was a model of self-reliance, dependability and meticulous organization. He had great love for his family, his heritage and his country. Ed was always willing to share his wisdom and common sense with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.” Edward is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Walters of Overland Park, Kansas, by his two sisters, Mary Walters Ford and Carole Walters Ball of Chicago, by his two nieces, Mya Walters of Chicago, and Maggie Walters of Spicewood, Tx, as well as a large extended family. Visitation will be held from 10 am - 11 am on Saturday, January 26th at the Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, with a memorial service to follow. Father Andrew Kishler of St. George Orthodox Church in Spring Valley, Illinois will officiate.
