Eileen M. “Bing” Collins, 92, of Rock Falls passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday April 5, 2024 at her home. Eileen was born on March 2, 1932 in Sterling the daughter of Edward and Nina (Dronenburg) Bingenheimer. She married Robert J. Collins on May 9, 1953 in Iowa City. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1986.
Eileen enjoyed spending time outdoors golfing, swimming at the YMCA, riding her scooter, sailing her catamaran, camping throughout the U.S.A., basket weaving, garage sales, hunting for gems, panning for gold and making jewelry of the gems she had found. She loved Jesus, her morning devotions, and her family at the Big Red Church. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family.
Survivors include son Ed (Kathleen) Collins of Tennessee Ridge TN; daughters Vickie Collins of Gallatin TN, Cynthia Collins of Lindenhurst, and Linda (Don) Rolen of Sterling; daughter-in-law Sara Collins of Rock Falls; sixteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son Robert Lewis Collins; son-in-law Richard Schmidt; sister Mildred Wilsey; and grandson Gatlin Collins.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday April 12, 2024 at Schilling Fuenral Home & Cremation in Sterling, with Jeff Coester of the Big Red Church, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral, from 10AM-11AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Lydia's Circle at the Big Red Church.
