Eleanor Ann Dale, age 89 of Sterling IL passed away at the Citadel Nursing Home on Friday March 7, 2025. She was born in a farm home Oct 5, 1935 south of Duncombe Iowa, the daughter of Leanord and Mildred (Lande) Jacobson.
Eleanor graduated from Webster City Iowa high school, where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. She also attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis MN.
Eleanor was united in marriage on April 8 1957 to Harold P Dale of Sterling IL and they have spent the next 67 years happily together. She spent the early years of their marriage as a homemaker and faithfully mothered her children. After the children were grown, she worked at the Sterling YWCA, and was employed as a home care worker for Tri County Opportunity Council. She enjoyed singing in her Church Choirs wherever she was a member. One of her favorite hobbies was genealogy discovering her family tree. She went to Westwood with Dad 6 days a week to exercise, and enjoyed other outdoor activities.
Eleanor is survived by her husband, Harold P. Dale, her daughter Valerie Alexander, her son John (Susan) Dale, her grandchildren, Leanne (Dustin) Renfroe, Courtney (Garin) Pisano, and Jordan Dale, her great grandchildren, Kyle Marshall, James Hochstetler, and Peyton Hochstetler, her sisters Roberta Zahrobsky, Deloris Temple, and Evonne Sue Gram.
She was preceded in death by her father Leanord Jacobson, her mother Mildred (Lande) Jacobson, brothers Duane, Curtis, and George Jacobson, sisters Helen Marie Schossow, Audrey Maurine Allen, her daughter Alecia Ann Dale, infant daughter Kathryn Ellen Dale, and infant son Michael Paul Dale.
Funeral services will be 11AM Saturday March 15,2025 at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling. Visitation will be 9:30AM-11AM prior to the funeral service at church. Burial will take place following the funeral at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
A memorial has been established to New Life Lutheran Church.
