- Mrs. Florence P. Ganther, 85 years old, died December 4, 2010 at her home after a long illness. Florence P. Ganther was born November 10, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of John and Pauline Stromovic Daris. She married Adolph (Ted) Ganther on October 3, 1952 in Sterling. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2002. Mrs. Ganther was a member of the First Christian Church of Sterling. She was sworn in the War Department for the U. S. Army Signal Corps during World War II and was employed at Arlington, VA. She then moved to Sterling, and retired from her employment at CGH Medical Center. She was an active volunteer for ten years for CGH Medical Center on the surgical floor, emergency room department and Barnabus Program for Chaplain Randy Miota. Florence enjoyed volunteer work, playing the organ, bible study classes with Reverend David Younker, ballroom dancing, being on the CGH bowling league, her Pomeranian dog, and most of all being with her family. Survivors include one son, Jim Ganther of Texas; two daughters, Sherry (Edwin) Dusing of Coleta and Kristy (Maurey) Bragg of Sterling; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Daris. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Sterling with Reverend David Younker officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 PM at the Schilling Funeral Home. A Memorial has been established.
