Frances Johnson

Frances Margaret Johnson, 99, formerly of Como died Monday, January 16, 2023 at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison. Frances was born March 20, 1923 in Harmon to John and Lucy (Peters) Bauer. She attended rural Prophetstown schools and graduated from Community High School (Newman). She married Alvin L. Johnson on May 5, 1951. They owned and operated service stations and Al’s Soft Water. Alvin passed away on January 4, 2018.




Frances enjoyed collecting antiques, sewing, quilting and gardening. She was a volunteer at the Dillon Home for many years. Frances and Alvin enjoyed wintering in Texas for 25 years.




Survivors include one daughter Nancy (James) Hardt; one son Gregory (Ingrid Nelson) Johnson; one daughter-in-law Diana Johnson; six grandchildren Matthew (Lindsay) Hardt, Shawn Hardt, Cory (Jennifer) Johnson, Eric Johnson, Kelli (Ben Kinn) Johnson and Zachary Johnson; several nieces and nephews.




She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin; one son Arthur L. Johnson; one great-grand-daughter Edyn Hardt; one sister Mildred Knelson; four brothers Philip Bauer, Harold Bauer, Paul Ward Bauer, and John Bauer.




Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Friday January 20, 2023 at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, with Reverend Sigfried Schwirblat officiating.
