GENE BELL ROCK FALLS - Gene Bell, 84, of Rock Falls, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at his home. He was a supervisor at Northwestern Steel & Wire for 38 years before retiring in 1984. Gene was born May 20, 1928 in Sterling, the son of George and Marie (Wentling) Bell. He married Shirley Palmer on July 11, 1948 in Rock Falls. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2004. Gene was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sterling. Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Ann (Mike) Quick, of Woodstock, GA, and Christy (Don) Schick, of Rock Falls; two sons, Gary (Vicki) Bell and Larry Bell, both of Rock Falls; two sisters, June Teachout, of Sterling, and Joyce Meyer, of Rock Falls; three brothers, Mason (Delores) Bell and Harlan (Janice) Bell, both of Rock Falls, and Dennis Bell, of Missouri; ten grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald Allen Bell. Services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Nancy Weingartner of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Reformed Mennonite Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Funeral Home. A memorial has been established.
