George Adel Mobarak
December 10, 1967 – October 27, 2024
George Adel Mobarak passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 27, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois. He was 56 years old. George was the loving husband of Krista and a devoted father to Mason, Hannah, Caroline, and Linda (Ethan) Newlin. He was also a beloved uncle to Adeline, Harry, Myles, Delia, and Martha. He is survived by his mother, Mary, his brother, Aaron, and his sister, Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his father, Adel, and his grandparents, George and Elizabeth Lindquist.
George was born and raised in Dixon, Illinois and was a Rock River Valley resident his entire life. After graduating from Dixon High School, George joined the family business in ready-mixed concrete and aggregates. Over the next four decades, George worked with his father to grow and modernize the business while providing high-quality concrete for countless construction projects throughout the region. Along the way, George served as President of the Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete Association, and he contributed generously to the Dixon and Sterling communities. For the last six years, George partnered in the business with his son, Mason, creating a bridge to the next generation. He felt such joy that he got to work with his son as he learned the business and planned for the future knowing that the work will continue with him.
In 1995, George met the love of his life, Krista. After a three-year courtship, George and Krista married in September 1998. George and Krista built a life together and raised four children who meant everything to George. He was fully committed to both family and work. After spending long hours at the ready mix, George loved returning home to grill steaks in the back yard while drinking a fresh glass of milk before starting a family water gun war or launching an impressive array of fireworks. When the weather was right, you could often find George fishing or golfing with his friends. George was happiest with his family, and he was incredibly proud of his children.
Anyone who knew George can tell you about his wonderful laugh. When George laughed hard, which he often did, his eyes squinted nearly shut, and tears of joy ran down his cheeks. If you laughed with George, you learned how to laugh properly. In addition to his wonderful sense of humor, George had one of the kindest souls ever. George made friends easily because he cared about people. And the people he cared about could feel it. One would be hard pressed to find a better friend than George.
George’s final day on Earth was spent celebrating Caroline’s White Coat ceremony at Loyola University with Krista and their four children. George told them it was “the best day ever".
