STERLING- Gustavo Herrera Medrano, 66, of Mt. Morris died Thursday February 4, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Rockford. Gustavo was born February 1, 1955 in Refugio Durango Mexico the son of Jose Medrano and Andrea Herrera Medrano. He married Norma Alicia Diaz. Gustavo was employed as a structural engineer for 47 years at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Survivors include his parents Jose and Andrea Medrano; his wife Norma; four daughters Irma (Francisco) Quinonez of Rochelle, Annabelle Medrano of TX, Mayra (Herbert) Martin of Rock Falls, and Yezenia (John Ortiz) Medrano of Sterling; two sons Ricardo Medrano of TX, and Gustavo Jr. (Nikela Rivera) Medrano of Sterling; five sisters Angelina Medrano, Raquel Sanchez, Ester Medrano, Maria Lena Medrano, Consuelo Medrano; two brothers Victor (Norma) Medrano of Rock Falls, and Flavio Medrano; Sixteen grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one Brother-in-law Felix Feleberto Diaz. Visitation will be Thursday February 11, 2021 from 4PM-7PM at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. Funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 7PM with Reverend Jorge Bravo, of St. Mary Catholic Church, officiating. A memorial has been established. Memorial can also be sent to Schilling Funeral Home, PO Box 592 , Sterling, IL 61081 and will be forwarded to the family. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com
