HARRIET MAY BURCH STERLING-Harriet May Burch, 92, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at CGH Medical Center. She was the secretary at Sterling High School from 1970-1985. May was born July 28, 1920 in Massillon, OH, the daughter of Sealon and Grace (Hopkins) Buffington. She served in the United States Navy from 1942 - 1945 First Regiment, First Battalion, First Company. She married Burdette on June 8, 1946 in Barberton, OH. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Burdette; five sons, James (Anne) of Mt. Carroll; Paul (Jackie) of Killeen, TX, David (Sandra) of Rock Falls, Daniel of Elizabeth and Timothy (Marilee) of Springfield; twenty grandchildren; thirty four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother William Buffington. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday, at First United Methodist Church, Sterling with the Reverend Paul Judd, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday at the Schilling Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church, Sterling.
