Irene F. Enstrom Schrom STERLING - Irene F. M. Enstrom Schrom, 83, died Friday morning, July 10, 2009 at her daughter's home in Sterling surrounded by family. Irene Frances Marie Dewis was born August 31, 1925 in Elgin, IL, the daughter of Ervin and Elfrieda Utech Dewis. She married Ralph O. Enstrom on September 21, 1946 in Crystal Lake, IL. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1970. She married Elmer F. Schrom on July 14, 1972 and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1988. Irene was a member of the First Congregational Church in Sterling, American Legion Women's Auxiliary of Mesa, AZ, and a member of Red Hat's in both Sterling and Mesa, AZ where she was a charter member. Irene's favorite moments were with her entire family, and traveling the world. She enjoyed her crafts, needlepoint, collecting rocks and had a speciality for painting "ladybugs" on rocks . Irene loved music and dancing, and enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and collecting antiques. She was an avid fisherman, particularly at her summer home in Webster,WI. She is survived by two sons, John R. (Bonnie) Enstrom of Anoka, MN and Fred O. (Janice Kay) Enstrom of Escondido, CA; one daughter, Sara (John) Schilling of Sterling; one step-son, Donald (Ginger) Schrom of Grosse Point, MI; seven grandchildren, Amy (Danny) Willis of Anchorage, AK, Andy (Jenny) Enstrom of Big Lake, MN, Betsy Enstrom of Raleigh, NC, David O. (Cherie) Enstrom and Jenny Enstrom both of Escondido, CA, John Paul Schilling and Mark Schilling both of Sterling; one step-grand-daughter, Claire (John B.) Gordon of Grosse Point, MI; four great-grandchildren, Donovan Schilling, Gabriella Schilling, John Paul Schilling, Jr. and Jacob Enstrom; and four step-great-grandchildren of Grosse Point, MI.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was proceeded in death by one brother, Paul Dietrich and two sisters, Florence Dietrich Ackman and Frieda Dietrich Parrish. Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Coester pastor of First Congregational Church of Sterling officiating. Graveside services will be 3 PM at Crystal Lake Union Cemetery in Crystal Lake. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Monday, July 13, 2009 at Schilling Funeral Home.
