JOHN E. “JACK” PROWANT HENRY-John E. “Jack” Prowant, of Henry, Illinois, died March 21, 2021 at 11:40AM at Methodist Hospital, Peoria. He was born in Sterling Illinois, September 26, 1933 to Harold Prowant and Ardetta (Reitzel) Prowant. Jack’s family moved a few times when he was young; he attended a one-room schoolhouse in Montana during the Great Depression. Jack was a graduate of Rock Falls High School. He also attended North Central University in Minneapolis, MN and graduated as a minister. Jack served honorably with the US Marine Corps during the Korean War era. Jack held many positions over his time in the military including a tank commander. He worked in sales in his earlier years. In his later years, Jack worked at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling and was also employed by the Sterling School District where he retired in 1999. In the past Jack was member and speaker for Gideons International and was a traveling minister with Village Missions. Jack joined St. Andrew Catholic Church at Easter 2019. Jack married Jenilee Koeller in 1951, she died from diabetes in 1954. Jack married Delores Knapp in 1955, she died from cancer in 1996. He then married Rita Ann (Frasor) Lang in 1998. Survivors include his wife Rita; son Terry A (Cindy) Prowant; daughter Vickie (Robert) Abell; sister Carolee Rosemore; step-children Michele Chadwick, Mike (Katie) Lang, Mark (Jane) Lang; seven grandchildren; seven step grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Gail and Darcy Prowant and step son, Kent Chadwick. Visitation will be at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Rock Falls, on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 9:30AM; followed by Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:30AM celebrated by Father Richard Russo. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling. Mass will be live streamed and can be accessed by standrewrockfalls.org and clicking on the facebook page link. Memorials may be directed to St. Andrew Catholic Church or Heartland Nursing Home in Henry Illinois. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com.
