Jewel Evelyn Woodson, 84, of Sterling, died Monday, July 31, 2017 at Sterling Pavilion. Jewel was born November 16, 1932 in Minturn, Arkansas, the daughter of Julius and Minnie Pearl (Duncan) Cobble. She was a graduate of Hoxie High School, Class of 1950. She married Billy Woodson on October 6, 1951 at the Walnut Ridge, Arkansas Assembly of God Church. She was a member of Rock River Assembly of God Church, Rock Falls. Jewel was employed at Lawrence Brothers for 42 years, prior to retirement. Jewel liked camping and fishing. She always had the camper loaded for any seasonal trip. Jewel was always thankful for the life she lived, never taking anything for granted. Jewel was devoted to her husband and son, Rickie. She was woman of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Christ’s love as well as beauty and peace that awaited her after her passing. She lived life fully, passionately and courageously. She will always be with us in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Minnie Pearl (Duncan) Cobble and sister, Virginia Cobble; two brothers Bernard and Paul Cobble. Left to cherish Jewel is her husband, Billy Woodson; one son, Rickie (Adell) Woodson of Hayes, Virginia; four grandchildren, Andrea (Michael) McDonald of Tokyo, Japan, Melissa Woodson of Paris, France, Christopher (Anne Douma) Woodson of Pfafftown, NC and David (Catherine) Woodson of Christiansburg, Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Emily, James and Elizabeth Woodson, Victoria and Christine McDonald and new baby “Woody” Woodson; two sisters, Earlene (Bart) Taylor and Geraldine (William) Weed; two brothers, Bert Cobble and Earl (Carol) Cobble and sister in-law, Kathleen (Woodson) Miller. Jewel will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, with the Reverend Don George officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling.
