Joanne Wood-Vangilder

STERLING- Joanne S. Wood-VanGilder, 71, of Sterling died Saturday April 24, 2021 at home surrounded by family. Joanne was born October 19, 1949 in Kewanee IL the daughter of Donald and Mary (Anderson) Motley. She married Lon Van Gilder in 2004. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed antiquing with her sisters. Survivors include her husband Lon VanGilder; three sons Jeff (Theresa Washburn) Wood of Kewanee, Chad (Donna Ponder) Wood of Ruston LA, and Keith (Leah Kavallaris) VanGilder of Madison WI; three sisters Janet (Bob) Harlow of Harvard, June Brilly of Ireland, and Kathy (Jeff) Andon of Colona; one brother, Hadyn (Rebecca) Motley of Kewanee ;six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be 10AM-12PM Saturday May 1, 2021 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation. Funeral service to follow at 12P.M. with Pastor Paul Lee of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sterling. A memorial has been established to St. Judes & Happy Tails.
