JOHN P. LOOS STERLING-John P. Loos, 76, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Coventry Gardens Facility. He was employed by the John M. Frey Company for over 35 years, prior to retirement. John was born August 30, 1936 in Sterling, the son of John D. and Lillian Loos. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army from 1956-1957. He married Sandra Fiest on September 14, 1957 and has been married for 55 years. John helped his son, Breck begin a long successful business with the NAPA organization and helped for the last 18 years in all facets of the business growth and success in his life. He will continue to watch over all his family from the great Heaven above. John has created a friendship over his lifetime with so many different friends from Illinois, Wisconsin and Florida, and all in between. He had a salesman type personality that could strike up a conversation with everybody. You just knew where you stood with John and he loved sharing his stories with everyone that he came into contact with. It goes without saying that all of us who knew John, could remember numerous stories and good times that John participated in. He loved Sterling High School and the wonderful history of athletics at his Alma Mater. John was the third generation of Loos' his daughter and son were the fourth and his grandchildren being the fifth. He was so proud of and loved talking about the Loos tradition. John was a loving husband and never got tired of talking about his grandchildren. He loved to play baseball and played during his early years. He was an avid golfer and loved the Chicago Cubs. John was an active member of the First Congregational Church, Sterling, now known as the Big Red Church. Survivors include his wife Sandy; two children, Debra Hughes of Ft. Myers, FL and Breck (Sheri) Loos of Sterling; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Daniel, Jamie Hughes and Shanna, Kaitlin, Tyler, Krista and Megan Loos; three sisters Barbara Higar, Betty (Terry) Wescom, both of Machesney Park and Nancy (Dan) Sage of Ft. Atkinson, WI. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Christina Loos and his parents John D. and Lillian Loos. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Big Red Church, Sterling with the Reverend Jeff Coester, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling, with military rites. Visitation will be held from 9-11:45 AM Saturday, prior to services at the church. A memorial has been established.
