Joyce Breedon

Joyce Elaine Breedon (née Scott), also known by her CB radio handle of "Redneck," passed away peacefully in Maypearl, Texas, on July 30, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on July 5, 1934, in Sterling, Illinois, Joyce lived a life marked by her dedication to family and her passion for puzzles, particularly the crossword ones, which she impressively completed in ink.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her family was her pride and joy. She is survived by three of her four children: H.P. Breedon, Tina Riley, and Jamie Breedon; her brother's Gary Scott and Jerry Scott; her 9 grandchildren and her 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Jim Breedon, and her daughter, Vicki Stack along with her brothers Arthur Scott, Neal Scott, Bob Scott, and Wayne Scott.

Jim and Joyce spent many years travelling from state to state in their RV with their family. They lived for their vacations and tried to take one at least once a year. One of their favorite places to visit was Bowling Green, Kentucky. Joyce was mainly a homemaker, but she did work as a bookkeeper for a while and at a daycare. She loved caring for children, especially her grandchildren. In her younger years she owned and operated a beauty shop in Sterling and also volunteered at the Moose Club where she and Jim spent a lot of time together as a family.

Visitation for Joyce will be held at Schilling Funeral Home, 702 1st Ave, Sterling, IL 61081, on Wednesday, August 7th 2024 from 10 am to 11 am. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 11:30 am at Oak Knoll cemetery. Joyce's memory will be cherished by all who knew her, as she continues to inspire through her enduring love and the indelible marks she left on the hearts of her family and friends.
