STERLING- Judith L. Hinders, 68, of Sterling, died Thursday August 22, 2013. Judith was born January 21, 1945 in Rockford, the daughter of Thaddeus and Grace (Shafer) Bookman. She married Larry Hinders August 19, 1967 in Brookville, IL. She was a member of Bethel Reformed Church where she was involved in many activities. Judith was a graduate of Lanark High School and a graduate of Freeport Memorial Hospital nursing school with an R.N. degree. She worked at the Freeport Clinic and then many years at the Sterling-Rock Falls clinic. Her favorite things to do were crocheting, cross-stitching, reading and collecting recipes. Survivors include her husband Larry; two daughters Debbie Hinders of Sterling, and Amy (Nick) Spencer of Urbandale, IA; one son Bradley (Patti) Hinders of Minooka, IL; four grandchildren, Ben and Jacob Hinders, Sarah and Alex Spencer; one brother Ted (Joan) Bookman of Monument, CO.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Bruce Bookman; Funeral service is at 10:30 Monday August 26, 2013 at Bethel Reformed Church in Sterling, with the Reverend Gary DeKoekkoek, officiating, followed by burial at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, at Bethel Reformed Church in Sterling. A memorial has been established to the Bethel Reformed Church. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com
