JULIA LOUISE (MERSHON) ROMBOUT DIXON- Julia Louise Mershon Rombout, 51, of Dixon formerly of Sterling, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 29, 2013, with her loving family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was employed as a developmental therapist and supervisor of the Early Intervention Program at Kreider Services, Dixon. She loved her position, her colleagues and especially all the children and their families, that she helped for over 22 years. Julia was born July 6, 1962 in Rochelle, the daughter of Roger and Elizabeth (Bates) Mershon. She attended Sterling Schools, graduating from Sterling High School and Northern Illinois University. Survivors include her parents, Roger and Elizabeth Mershon, one daughter, Erin (Clarence Greer) Rombout of Rockford; one son, Alex Rombout of Dixon; one sister, Theresa (Blair) Samuelson of Medford, OR; one brother, Jeffrey Mershon of DelRay Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Hailee Chavirs, Carl Greer and Lilly Greer and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and former husband, Dennis Rombout. Julia's family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Fauzia G. Khatak, MD, and the Swedish American Cancer Center and to the Heartland Hospice for the loving care they gave to Julia. Please join us to celebrate Julia's life on Wednesday, September, 4, 2013 at 6:00 PM at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Reverend Jeff Coester, pastor of The Big Red Church, Sterling, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM - 5:45 PM, prior to memorial service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Julia's name..
