KATHRYN MARY BAKER STERLING- Kathryn M. Baker, 93, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at her residence, followed by a lengthy illness of dementia. Kathryn M. Baker was born October 14, 1915 in Malvern. The daughter of Porter and Dora Horning. She married Jesse H. Baker. He preceded her in death in 2003 after sixty-seven years of marriage. Much of her early life was in the Fair Haven Community before marrying and relocating to Galesburg. In addition to being a mother and homemaker she taught piano. She and her husband retired to Sterling in 1972 where they were active in the Presbyterian Church. She was a frequent pianist for the Adult Sunday School Class and participated in Circles and Woman's Bible Study. She was a spiritual inspiration to all who came in contact with her. Her sweet spirit, kindness and generosity will be missed. She loved her flower and gardening activities and beautiful yard. Survivors include one daughter, Sharen (Carlton) Anderson of Wheaton; one son, Maurice (Elaine) Baker of Palm Coast, FL; five granddaughters, Stefanie (Brian) Sage of Peoria, Tammy (Mike) Rieger of Cherry Valley, Melissa White of Schaumburg, Karna Pfisterer of Palm Coast, FL and Cathleen (Brian) Halfacre of Wheaton; eleven great-grandchildren, David, Lauren, Jonathan Sage, Justin White, Zackery and Kyle Pfisterer, Elizabeth and Dane Rieger, Austin, Gavin, and Peyton Halfacre. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Sterling with the Reverend Michael Freeman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM Thursday, prior to services at the church. A memorial has been established.
