Kenneth Balsley

Kenneth R. Balsley, 95, of Rock Falls died Friday December 16, 2022 at his home. Kenneth was born January 25, 1927 in Mapes ND the son of Frank and Ida May (Gunderson) Balsley. He married Lois DeGroot on January 25, 1949. Lois preceded Kenneth in death on January 28, 1998.

His military service in the United States Army included serving during WWII in Germany as a guard at the Palace of Justice during the Nuremberg Trials. He spent 28 years as a Millright at Northwestern Steel and Wire. He was a devoted husband, father and mentor for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters Judy (Howard) Rains of Lewiston ID, and Suzan Davis of Sterling; four sons Ricky (Connie) Balsley of Sterling; Michael Balsley of Dixon, David (Peggy) Balsley of Dixon, and Patrick (Anne) Balsley of Rock Falls; one brother Virgil Balsley of Clear Lake CA; fifteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Kenneth was also preceded in death by his parents; one son in infancy Gary Balsley; four brothers Don Balsley, Earl Balsley, Lloyd Balsley, and Jessie Balsley; two sisters Alice Anderson, and Dorothy Stumbo.

Visitation will be 4PM-7PM Wednesday December 21, 2022 at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. Funeral will be 11AM Thursday December 22, 2022, at Schilling Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott Porter, officiating. Burial will take place immediately following at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls, with Military Honors.
