MORRISON - Kevin “Kev” Charles Castle, 70, of Dixon died Thursday June 24, 2021, at Pleasant View of Morrison. Kevin was born January 18, 1951, in Amboy, IL the son of Clarence J. and Anna (Donavon) Castle. He married Sherry Strub December 19, 1970, they were married 17 years, later divorced but remained good friends. Kevin had a contagious smile, liked music but loved Elvis. He had many cars over the years even trading his 65’ Mustang in for the latest station wagon. Kevin was a fun father letting his young kids steer the car as they drove around town. He waved to everyone especially the police and truck drivers. He worked in the garden as a kid and had his own garden for many years. He made the best crockpot soups and was always willing to give friends a helping hand, doing yardwork or giving ones a ride. Kevin worked at Eagles Grocery Store in the CWT program before graduating Dixon High School in 1970. Kev went on to work at the Steel Mill Plant in Rock Falls for 13 years until they closed the plant. He started a lawn mowing service, worked many jobs over the years including caretaker at Kreider Services, NICL of Sterling, in later life he was a greeter at Walmart and Delivered for Pizza Hut before Retiring. He enjoyed driving through parks, was always on the go, traveled to many states FL, UT, NY, CA. He took a nap every day. He enjoyed being around his family and friends, especially Sherry (you never forget your first love). He was a pet lover from his horse which he rode to deliver newspapers as a preteen with his dog Penny at his side, to his last furry friend Riley, he loved them all dearly. Survivors include his children Jeremy (Cindy) Castle, Shelby Martin, Darcey (Josh) Lewis of Dixon, two brothers Ronald (Rosemary) Castle of Polo, Danny Mishler of Montana; one sister Karen (James) Miller of Aurora; eight grandchildren Ashley, Zackary, Jacob, Carmen, Alexander, Levi, Chloe, Jeremy; one great grandchild Marie. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Judy Farnese; one brother, Donald Castle. Cremation Rites have been accorded. There will be no service at this time. A memorial has been established and cards may be sent to Schilling Funeral Home at PO Box 592, Sterling, IL 61081 to be forwarded to the Family.
