Leo Megli

LEO D. MEGLI ROCK FALLS- Mr. Leo D. Megli, 84, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at CGH Medical Center. Mr. Megli farmed all of his adult life in Rock Falls. Leo David Megli was born May 5, 1924 in Glen Elder, Kansas, the son of Roy and Anna Plettner Megli. He married Flora Mae Simester on October 11, 1945. Mr. Megli was a member of the Reformed Mennonite Church. He enjoyed woodworking and building things for his grandchildren. He is survived by ten children which include two daughters Caroline (Barry) Mikels of Rockford and Marian (Larry) Ulferts of Dixon, and eight sons which include David (Laurel) Megli of Deer Grove, Jim (Dee) Megli of Lyndon, Robert (Caroline) Megli of Chico, CA, Ed (Deb) Megli, Ben (Cindy) Megli, Phillip (Melissa) Megli all of Sterling, Steve (Cheri) Megli of Phoenix, AZ, and Tom Megli of Dearborn, MI; twenty-three grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna Sedig and Rosemary Harms both of Sterling. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Schrock. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Schilling Funeral Home. Burial will be at Reformed Mennonite Cemetery in Sterling. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 27, 2009 from 5-8 PM at Schilling Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
