LEROY J. KETTLER DIXON - Mr. LeRoy J. Kettler, 79, died at CGH Medical Center and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family. He worked at GE in Morrison, NWSW, and Wahl Clipper retiring in 1996. LeRoy was born March 4, 1933 in Fulton, the son of Garrett and Gertrude (Buikema) Kettler. He married Pauline Jacobs on July 13, 1957 in Sterling. LeRoy served in the Navy for four years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #296-Sterling and the Moose Lodge #726-Sterling. Mr. Kettler is survived by his wife, Pauline, of Dixon; one daughter, Sherry (Norman) Asbury, of Dixon; one son, Edward Kettler, of Missouri; one sister, Winnifred Kettler, of Fulton; one brother, Dwight (Margaret) Kettler, of Morrison; three grandchildren, Michele Thompson, of CA, Joshua (Kym) Thompson, of IA, and Kevin Asbury of Dixon; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Cesselie Pannier. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Gertrude Kettler, Bernice Vannini, and Annalene Koenes; one brother, Paul Kettler; and one brother-in-law John Vannini. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, June 1, 2012 at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling with Reverend Christina Berry, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Sterling, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling with military honors. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Funeral Home. A service of remembrance by Moose Lodge#726-Sterling will be held at 7:30 PM, Thursday. A memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com.
