Leslie Finkle

STERLING —Leslie D. Finkle Sr. 90, of Sterling, died, Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Swedish American Hospital of Rockford. Leslie was born August 30, 1929 in Rock Falls, the son of James and Agnes (Sprankle) Finkle. He married Sylvia Newman on December 23, 1951 in Rock Falls. He served for the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, S. Lavon Finkle of Sterling; one son, Leslie (Kathleen) Finkle II of Jacksonville, IL; three brothers, Donald (Lou) Portner of Rock Falls, Raymond Portner of Sterling, Albert (Char) Portner of WA; one sister, Evelyn Portner of Polo; three grandchildren, Andrew (Linda Pease) Buikema of Jacksonville, Emily (Chris) Green of Sterling, Takia Griffith of GA; 8 great grandchildren, Ashton Green, Jordan Green, C.J. Green, August Pease, Amber Pease, Austin Pease ,Toby Osborne, Michala Holcomb. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold Finkle. Cremation rites have been accorded.
