LOIS CORBETT MILLER STERLING-Lois Corbett Miller, 91, passed away peacefully at Regency Care of Sterling on December 2, 2017. Lois was born on April 2, 1926 in Oregon, Illinois. She was the seventh of nine children born to Joe and Bessie (Ballard) Corbett. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Mt. Morris High School at the age of 15. Following graduation she worked at Cable Printing Company in Mt. Morris, and then moved to Long Beach, California. She married Kenneth E. Miller in Long Beach on July 12, 1947. After moving back in 1949, they lived in Lanark, Savanna, Sterling, and Morrison over the course of their 52 year marriage. She worked as a secretary for the Social Security Administration and National Manufacturing Company. Lois was an avid bowler and cribbage player, and loved to cheer her favorite sports teams, the Sterling Warriors, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Celtics. She also loved to babysit her grandchildren and attend their various sporting events. Lois is survived by three children: Pamela (John) Magnarelli of Duxbury MA; Ronda (Geoff) Paufve of Sterling, IL; and Mark (Sherry) Miller of Naples, FL. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Christopher and Patrick Magnarelli; Nathan (Jordan) and Dan (Petra) Paufve; Amy (Dave) Drozd; and Stacie (Justin) Drennan and four great-grandchildren: Monroe Paufve, Emerson Drozd, and Lucas and Natalie Drennan. Lois is also survived by two brothers: Gene Corbett of Mt. Morris and Derril (Joyce) Corbett of South Bend, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1999, three sisters (Marian Miller, Gladys Johnson, and Dorothy Eyers), and three brothers (Howard, John, and Russell Corbett). Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 am Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. The funeral will follow at Schilling Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Pastor Brad Wilson of the Sterling First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Sterling.
