M. BERNICE SEAVEY OREGON- M. Bernice Seavey, 100, of Sterling, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at Serenity Hospice & Home. Bernice was born June 1, 1913 in Sterling, the daughter of Earl and Mayme (Lyndes) Martin. She married Jay E. Seavey on January 22, 1936 in Sterling. Bernice was a dedicated mother and homemaker as Jay took care of the farm. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2007. Bernice was a member of East Jordan United Methodist Church, Sterling. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother who shared her life with all. She was an active member of East Jordan Church where her unselfish giving was experienced by all. Bernice was active in many charitable organizations through the years, and found a great joy in serving her Lord. Survivors include a son, Ellis Seavey of McGregor, IA; one daughter, Karen Stalter of Eureka; and a son, Stanley (Connie) Seavey of Franklin Grove; two sisters, Lucille Dodd of Clinton, IA and Evelyn Smith of Sterling, ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Kary Stalter. Services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, July 29, 2013, at East Jordan United Methodist Church, Sterling with Pastor Dave Jungnickel of East Jordan United Methodist Church, officiating. Private burial will be at the Prairieville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM, Monday at the church, prior to funeral services. A memorial has been established to East Jordan United Methodist Church and PADS Homeless Shelter, Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
