MARTHA ANN WHALEY STERLING- Martha Ann Whaley, 81, died Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Coventry Living Center. She was employed by the First National Bank of Chicago as assistant librarian and staff officer from 1949 until she retired in 1982. Martha was born May 29, 1927 in Sterling. The daughter of Hugh Ent and Lorene (Stoddard) Whaley. She graduated from Sterling High School, the University of Iowa, and received her Master's Degree in Library Science from Rosary College, River Forest. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Sterling, Rock River Chapter of the DAR, Whiteside County Genealogical Society, and the Sterling Historical Society where she served on the board. Survivors include, many cousins. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Riverside Cemetery with the Reverend Jeff Coester, pastor, of First Congregational Church UCC of Sterling. Arrangements were completed by Schilling Funeral Home.
