MARY MARGARET LUBBS COLETA �" Mary Margaret Lubbs, 86, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 after an extended illness. She was born August 30, 1923 in Manlius, the daughter of James and Mary (Morris) Ballard. Mary was a graduate of Manlius schools and Illinois State University. She married the love of her life, Clarence J. Lubbs on June 20, 1946. Together they built a home in Coleta and raised four children; Bonnie (David) Scoville, of Lake Odessa, MI, Deborah (Onel) LeRoy, of Coleta, Barbara (Kirby) Rodgers, of Lincoln, and James Lubbs, of Coleta. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and her only sister, Virginia Wheeler, of Ottawa. Mary was a dedicated teacher who shared her love of learning with students in Rockford, Salem (country school), Coleta and Washington Elementary in Sterling. She was a member of Coleta United Brethren Church and served her Lord as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a life member of the Women's Missionary Fellowship. Extending their love of missions, Clarence and Mary served as missionaries in Sierra Leone, West Africa and later led two short-term mission trips to Sierra Leone. She also served a term on the Huntington College Board of Trustees. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy. Services celebrating her entrance to Heaven will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Coleta United Brethren Church with Reverend Wilmerr Houck, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. on Friday, September 25, 2009 at Schilling Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.
