Mary E (Tutie) Ortiz passed away surrounded by family on August 31st 2022 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Mary was born June 1st 1951 in Sterling Il to Jose and Delia (Vargas) Ramos.

Mary most recently worked at St Mary’s School in Sterling.

Mary attended St Mary’s Church in Sterling and St Anne’s Church in Dixon. Mary enjoyed learning new patterns to crochet, spending time with her family and spoiling her grand-dogs Jacob and Otis.

Mary was a wonderful mom to Alejandra (Jose) Lopez and Julio (Nichole) Ortiz. Loving Grandma to Dalila, Faybian, Aldo Jr and Janessa. Sister to Jose (late Audrey) Ramos, Pearla Cornwell, Ernie (Paulette)Ramos, Edward (Jeannie) Ramos, Paul (Carol) Ramos, Irene (Randall) Forest, Bernie (Sherry) Ramos and Julie Pitchford.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her home aid Connie and the staff at Rock River Home and Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Mary.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Cristobal, Patricia and Anita, nephew Garrett Ramos and her fur-babies Harley and Max.

As requested by Mary a mass will be held on September 8th 2022 at 10:30 am at St Mary’s Church in Sterling followed by a luncheon at Bales Hall. A private burial will be held at a later date.
