MINERVA M. JENSEN STERLING- Minerva M. Jensen, 101, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at CGH Medical Center. Minerva was born October 13, 1910 in Odin, the daughter of Josiah Harley and Mary K. (Overbeck) Fyke. She married John T. Jensen on November 19, 1933 at the Methodist Church in Odin. Minerva lived and farmed with John near Shattuc, until he died in June of 1995 and continued living on the farm until 2006 when she moved to Sterling, to live with her son, Jim and wife, Joyce. She then moved to the Sterling Pavilion in 2011. She lived a long life to the age of 101 and touched the lives of many who knew and loved her. She has now gone to meet the Lord. Survivors include, one son, James (Joyce) Jensen of Sterling; son-in-law, Bennie Hicks of Sterling; eight grandchildren, Darrell (Judy) Hicks, Thomas (Ruth) Hicks, Merlin (Lynda) Hicks, Mina (Tim) Wright, Lenora (Phil) Jacobson, Gloria (Andrew) Schroeder, Krista (Drew) Johnson, Cheryl (Jeff) Schreiner and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Hicks. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling with Reverend Mark Curtis, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 AM on Monday at Schilling Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation from 9:30-11 AM on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Day Funeral Home in Sandoval. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 AM at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin. A memorial has been established to Shattuc Methodist Church or Trinity United Methodist Church.
